Replacement banknote of India (Star Note)


100 കറൻസികൾ അടങ്ങിയ ഒരു Bundle ആയാണ് RBI നോട്ടുകൾ ഇഷ്യൂ ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഈ നോട്ടുകൾ 1  മുതൽ 100 വരെ തുടർച്ചയായ  ഒരു സംഖ്യാക്രമത്തിലായിരിക്കും.ഓരോ ബാങ്ക് നോട്ടിനും Prefix (First  3  characters) ന് ശേഷം തുടർച്ചയായ ആറക്ക  സീരിയൽ നമ്പർ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും.

പ്രിന്റ് ചെയ്യുന്ന സമയത്തു ഇവയിൽ ചില നോട്ടുകളിലെ സീരിയൽ നമ്പറുകളിൽ   വരുന്ന പാകപ്പിഴവുകൾ (Numbering Defects) പരിഹരിക്കുന്നതിന് അത്തരം നോട്ടുകൾ എടുത്തു മാറ്റി പകരം വേറെ നോട്ടുകൾ വെക്കേണ്ടതായി വരുന്നു. 2006 വരെ 100 നോട്ടുകൾ അടങ്ങിയ ഒരു ബാച്ചിലെ(Batch) ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒരു നോട്ടിൽ ന്യൂനത(defect) വന്നാൽ ആ Batch മുഴുവൻ RBI  പിൻവലിച്ച്  പകരം പുതിയ ഒരു Batch നോട്ടുകൾ പ്രിന്റ് ചെയ്യുന്ന രീതിയായിരുന്നു അവലംബിച്ചിരുന്നത്.  ഇങ്ങിനെ ഒരു Batch മുഴുവൻ രണ്ടാമത് പ്രിന്റു ചെയ്യുവാനുള്ള സമയം, പേപ്പറിന്റെയും മഷിയുടെയും അധിക ചിലവ് തുടങ്ങിയ കാരണങ്ങളാൽ 2006-ൽ RBI ഈ രീതി നിർത്തലാക്കി.

പിന്നീട് ഏതെങ്കിലും നോട്ടുകളിൽ ഇത്തരം പാകപ്പിഴവുകൾ സംഭവിച്ചാൽ ആ Batch നോട്ടുകൾ മുഴുവൻ പിൻവലിക്കുന്നതിന് പകരം Defective നോട്ട് മാത്രം എടുത്തു മാറ്റി നക്ഷത്ര ചിഹ്നം "*" (Star) മുദ്രണം ചെയ്ത നോട്ടുകൾ പകരം വയ്ക്കുന്ന രീതി തുടങ്ങി. ഈ നോട്ടുകളെയാണ് Star Series നോട്ടുകൾ എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഇത്തരം നോട്ടുകളിൽ  നമ്പർ പാനലിൽ Prefix- ന്റെയും ആറക്ക സീരിയൽ നമ്പറിന്റെയും ഇടയിലാണ് Star (*) മുദ്രണം ചെയ്യുന്നത്. (ചിത്രം കാണുക). ഇത്തരത്തിൽ Replace ചെയ്ത  Star നോട്ടുകളുടെ Prefix ആ ബാച്ചിലെ മറ്റു നോട്ടുകളുടെ Prefix- ൽ നിന്നും വ്യത്യാസപ്പെട്ടതായിരിക്കും. 

തുടക്കത്തിൽ 10, 20, 50 എന്നീ ചെറിയ denomination- കളിലുള്ള Star നോട്ടുകളാണ് RBI പുറത്തിറക്കിയത്. എന്നാൽ 2009 മുതൽ 100 രൂപയുടെ Star നോട്ടുകളും പുറത്തിറക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി. ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒരു bundle- ലിൽ ഇത്തരത്തിൽ Star നോട്ടുകൾ ഉൾപെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ ഇക്കാര്യം വ്യക്തമായി bundle- ലിന്റെ  പുറത്തു രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കും (ചിത്രം കാണുക)

മറ്റു രാജ്യങ്ങളും ഇത്തരത്തിൽ Replacement Bank നോട്ടുകൾ പുറത്തിറക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.  വ്യത്യസ്തമായ  ചിഹ്നങ്ങളാണ് ഓരോ രാജ്യവും അവയുടെ സീരിയൽ നമ്പറിന്റെ കൂടെ ചേർക്കുന്നത്.

Examples of marker by countries

  • The United States uses, and Australia used until 1972, the "*" in the serial number to mark a replacement banknote. These are known as "Star Notes".
  • Argentina uses "R" in the serial number to mark replacement banknotes.
  • The Bahamas use "Z" in the serial number to mark replacement banknotes.
  • ScotlandHong Kong and Mongolia use "ZZ" in the serial number to mark replacement banknotes.
  • Singapore uses "Z/1" in the serial number to mark replacement banknotes.
  • Sri Lanka uses "Z" in the serial number to mark replacement banknotes.
  • Indonesia uses "X" in the serial number to mark replacement banknotes.
  • Iraq uses prefix "Letter/99" in the serial number to mark replacement banknotes.
  • Zambia uses "X3" in the serial number to mark replacement polymer banknotes.
  • Malaysia uses "Z" in the serial number to mark replacement banknotes of the current series.
  • Thailand uses "5 OS" in the serial number to mark replacement polymer banknotes.
  • Serbia uses "ZA" in the serial number to mark replacement banknotes.
